Random Fun with Jamie

Wellington has decided to rain a lot even though its Summer, Tiwa doesn't approve so she's found a place on the beach and has her shoes off.

She's got a packet of things from Victoria beside her that she probably should look through, but for now, she might be asleep.

Her hop is slower as she grabs his hand, where his finger went her skin feels warmer and this time her smile works better,

"Okay."

[land_lover]

One arm loops around her shoulders and he walks several paces before stopping and giving her a cheeky smile, while bending his legs slightly and nodding at his back.

"Piggyback ride? No sense in wearing you out."

[piwakawaka]

His smile makes her grin and then the suggestion makes her laugh,

"Don't think you can wear me out."

[land_lover]

"Don't spoil my fun, lass."

His laughter safely removes any bite from the warning.

"Hop on! This sand is hot, and we can't have you burning such fair feet, can we?"

[piwakawaka]

"You're weird. Lean down, you're too tall."

Then she pats his shoulder and smiles as she waits.

[land_lover]

Jamie adopts a hurt expression, but crouches down further and reaches for her leg, helping her up.

"You wound me," he teases. "I'm quite sure I'm one of the least weird people here!"

[piwakawaka]

She kisses him before hopping up on his back and winding her arms around his neck,

"Nothing wrong with weird and you probably are."

[land_lover]

"Glad we agree, then."

Laughing quietly, he hooks his arms around her legs and bounces a few times on his feet before setting off in long, confident strides down the beach.

"The first time I came here -- that I could remember, anyway -- I was on the run from rampaging Immortals with my uncle, brother and sister."

[piwakawaka]

"What do you mean when you say Immortal?"

She leans her head on his shoulder as she asks.

[land_lover]

He turns his head slightly, looking at her out of the corner of his eye.

"Divine beings. They were trapped in the Divine Realms until someone let them out." He frowns, an expression that doesn't look natural on his face. "Mages."

[piwakawaka]

"Never heard them called that before, they don't usually live that long."

The look in her eyes is older since she's been around a long time through reincarnation.

[land_lover]

"Mages or divine beings?"

After a moment to consider her tone, he spins them in two fast, uneven circles and the laughs.

[piwakawaka]

She laughs and puts her arms out to catch the wind as they spin. Then she flops on his back and says,

"Mages, they're just mortals. Not sure who would be a divine being."

[land_lover]

"Spidrens, Stormwings... the much more agreeable unicorn. Mages closed the border between their world and ours long before I was born, but I was most certainly alive when it reopened."

He spins her one last time and turns to let her hop down on a large boulder.

[piwakawaka]

As she moves onto the boulder, Tiwa gives him another headtilt,

"Stormwings sound kind of familiar. So they chased you here?"

[land_lover]

"A Spidren did."

His answer lacks any further explanation, however, as he seems to be studying the stretch of sand behind the boulder. He walks left, then right, and eyes the sand for another moment before dropping to his knees and starting to dig.

"As silly as it sounds, that day changed everything."

[piwakawaka]

"Wouldn't say that, all you need is a little change of the wind and your course is different. How did it change things for you?"

As he digs, she shifts to watch him, not quite perched on the boulder.

[land_lover]

The sand starts to accumulate under his fingernails, gritty and damp, and he smiles at the feel of it.

"Other than discovering the end of the universe and catching Ma out? I started having visions."

[piwakawaka]

"What sorts of visions? I hope your mother wasn't too annoyed by being caught out."

Tiwa moves forward to put her toes into the sand.

[land_lover]

"She was, but the Lioness has ever had a fierce temper."

He laughs, clearly fond of both his mother AND her temper.

"Visions of what's happened. To others. I didn't know that, then. It was all very confusing and I said not a word to anyone."

[piwakawaka]

"She sounds like fun. Brave of you to not say anything but also kind of foolish. You're from a world of magic after all."

[land_lover]

A shrug.

"I wanted it to myself for awhile, so I could understand it. Or pick it apart. We didn't know about our father yet," he thinks to add.

Somewhat unhelpfully.

[piwakawaka]

"I can see that. What about your father? You hop all over things almost as bad as I do."

Though she's grinning as she says it so its probably more of a compliment.

Jamie laughs, taking it as such.

"Thank you," he grins. "Da-"

His fingers touch glass, and he pauses to pull an old, sandy bottle free.

"Da is the Antichrist."

[piwakawaka]

Tiwa just blinks at him for a bit, religion is odd in her world,

"How does that work?"
