Antoine in Wellington

[piwakawaka]

The door opens onto a patio that's full of a huge family working on a barbeque and other things.

There's a view over a city with a horseshoe harbor and a wind that threatens to blow you over if you walk the wrong way.

"Ah!"

A sheepish grin.

"A fantail, right?"

[piwakawaka]

"Yes." She bops his nose.

"Had to check; Didn't want to be mistaken."

"In Maori, I'm called piwakawaka."

Then with a grin, she hops behind him and into a little wooden area before flying out and settling on his shoulder.

Antoine smiles, tucking his hands in his pockets as he offers the fantail a glance.

"Bonjour."

She gives his hair a tug and chirps at him.

He winces slightly, looking over at the fantail again.

"Malcontent?"

Tiwa gives him a bird glare, she didn't pull it that hard and does a circle around his head.

He just grins and watches her fly.

Then she starts flying down near the water and leading him to a really yummy gelato place.

He keeps his eyes on her as he follows, muttering a few excuse mes as he narrowly avoids running into people.

A few people try to take picture of Tiwa so she does some acrobatics for them all.

Watching her makes him miss his plane, but he shakes the thought off, immersing himself in what is going on around him.

A couple of tourists and bird watchers are having avid discussions about fantails as she goes around his head and perches on his shoulder and chirps again at him.

He stops as she does so, tilting his head as if to say, 'Yes ma'am?'

Then she flies down towards the waterfront again, then finds a clearer space and moves behind where there's a feathery sound,

"Do you like gelato?"

"Sure."

[piwakawaka]

"Good, best place in the city."

She takes his hand and pulls him over to the little cafe and puts him in front,

"You order first."

"Oh - non -"

After a moment of language flail, Antoine succeeds in getting himself a strawberry gelato.

Tiwa should be proud.

She is and orders herself a chocolate hazelnut one and then pulls him over to sit right on the water,

"So, what should I start with in French?"

"Well, 'bonjour' is a good start."

"Bonjour."

Tiwa says with a grin as she digs into her gelato. She has learned some French in school but Antoine is more fun.

"And bonsoir for good evening, and bonne nuit for goodnight."

"Lots of different ways to say hello. Bonjour, bonsoir, bonne nuit."
