Freeing the Bird

The shortcut through the Dreaming leaves them close to many warehouses and the water in Kaiwharawhara but only one has a palpable feel of magic and about ten young men simply hanging about.

As everyone starts to appear, a few of the men pull out various objects to focus as the magic grows in the air as the others who are a bit too pale just grin.

Teams: 1-Alex, Aiden, the Baron, Hamlet
2-Carl, Ben, James, Peron

Starting things off again and I'm just going to do the James' thread later and make it work.

He eyes the fire escape and then moves to climb a stack of nearby crates, reholstering his weapon before jumping to grab the railing and haul himself up, careful to make as little noise as possible.

The first window he reaches, he carefully tries to get a glimpse inside through one of the cracks.

So the ghoul tries to kick and fight anyway he can, he's not going to get defeated by this thing.

The ghoul doesn't have the skill of Hamlet but he keeps pushing, trying to get him away from the warehouse and towards one of the cars.

The window sheds little light but there is a lamp over near the front of the building at the Mage's workbench where two figures talk.

Its almost impossible to see the cage in the shifting light and yet there are moments where it can be seen in a corner far from everything.

Try as the ghoul might, Hamlet, if not making progress, will stand his ground.

Finally he yells and punches towards Hamlet's face.

The thing is going for fingers up the nose and a hard yank.

Which is effective and there's the snap of bone cracking.

It catches the prince offguard, and he drops like a stone - it'll be a few moments before his senses allow him to get back to his feet.

Which causes the ghoul to laugh and hoist him onto his shoulders, his master will like another one to feed on.

... Unfortunately for the ghoul, Hamlet is still carrying his rapier.

As it happens, the prince has no intention of becoming lunch.

He spots the cage, and the two figures near the front of the building, but can't see anything else in the large warehouse - it's too dark.

With the same silent motions, he moves on the fire escape and heads for the roof, to see what sort of skylights or other access points there might be, if any at all.

Happily, Alex starts to disembowel the man.

The rapier slips into the ghoul's torso and he yells and squeezes Hamlet,

"He will feast."

On the roof, there's one skylight but its also been boarded up from the inside so the view from below is still mainly darkness.

Hamlet yells in protest, still thrusting the rapier at the ghoul, a task which is not extremely hard to complete given their proximity.

All the blood loss is starting to hurt and the ghoul yells and tries to slam Hamlet on the ground.

Perón leaves Tane to his business, not wanting to risk injuring the man, and focuses on the one he nicked. In this world he doesn't know, he can't take any chances, so he fires again. His concentration is stronger this time, his aim not just to startle or wound, but to finish the job.

In the time he's taken between shots the apprentice has constructed a spell of air and the bullets fly past him.

He laughs and in his hand a ball is spun and spun as around Peron a fog starts to fall.

The prince takes the opportunity to get both feet back on the ground, immediately jabbing at the ghoul's arms in an attempt to free himself.

So the ghoul simply grabs tighter as he struggles towards the door, he will show his master what he can do.

And in response? Hamlet drops the rapier, pulls a knife from his belt, and stabs at the ghoul's arms.

A skylight is an entrance - and if need be, an exit later once they're inside - so he reaches into the pack and grabs several bars of C-4 and a roll of tape, and gets to work on rigging charges around the skylight.

They're linked to a remote detonator - he's got the remote on his person - not a timer, so there won't be any accidental explosions. He works quickly, and silently.

And the ghoul tries to bite him and punch him. Then the ground trembles and shakes as there's a BOOM. In confusion the ghoul lets go of Hamlet and turns to try and get inside to where his master is.

The only problem is that there is a trap of sorts on the skylight and as he moves to tape the charges, iron spikes shoot up an inch from the edges.
