The Search

Liam opens the door into a room that's normally used as a practice room for everything from illusion work to sword so the walls are full of a motley of things.

Two people turn towards the door, a young woman with curly red hair and presence beyond her young years who hugs Liam before her eyes go wide at all the people following behind him.

The other is a Maori man who has a bit of Tiwa's laughter in his eyes and face just he towers even above Liam, a few inches above six feet and he has the start of sleeve tattoos on his arms who asks,

"All of them are going to help us?"

(OOC: Don't worry about order to start with, just want everyone to tag in under to create one thread of entering and then start splitting up. So yes, keep going with intros, won't take long, promise.)

Magic Searching

Tane also has a map but this one is highlighting rather different things,

"Now, we know where most of the sources of power in the city are and they must be near one of them to hide what they're doing."

James leans over to take a better look at the map Tane has in his possession.

"This is a vampire and mage, right? They haven't got ... large armies or anything, have they?"

"It won't matter if it's just two of them or a lot," Carl says, as he moves to glance at the map. "You still go in there prepared to be outnumbered, and when you're not, it's a pleasant surprise."

Nothing is ever pleasant in his line of work.

Ben squints at Tane's map.

"I'm bankin' they'll have bigger numbers, but can we take out these power sources? Knock out the lights or whatever the hell they're hidin' behind?"

Tane runs a hand through his hair as he thinks,

"Um not armies just apprentices and not quite vampires, more like servants but not near their power. Yeah, that exactly, have to be set for all. Oh and the power things on here, not electricity but.."

He's not good at explaining this so thinks about it for a moment before answering,

"Sources of energy of sorts. You're the gunfighter so you know that when we do magic, it has to be built up. Place like this or the Freehold, its just there for you. And they have to be near someplace like that or else they couldn't hide."

He absorbs the information and nods to the map.

"So y'all got these, uh, energy pockets narrowed down?"

"And how can they be damaged or dampened to keep them from getting access?"

There was a reason he brought C4 with him on this trip.

James listens for the answer, pretty sure he's likely the least experienced 'fighter' in this group.

"Probably won't be able to do too much damage to 'em just cause going to be protected. More important to bring them down quick as we can."

Ben's forehead creases.

"So how're we gonna do that? Are bullets gonna hurt these power sources?"

"We could use the power sources," Aiden pipes up. "Can we? It'd even out the odds a bit if we could."

Carl will be keeping a close eye on James - Tiwa's told him enough about the lad that he doesn't want him getting hurt.

"I'm not a magic user, I'm just good at getting in and getting out of a location without raising alarm."

"It would be a good idea to use the power sources, if we can," he says in agreement. "Or - perhaps if we found a way to divert the power long enough to sneak past them..."

"Oh yeah, kind of smoke 'em out. Also Mage at least is mortal so he can be taken down just have to get by his protections. Vamp's going to be trickier, they're hard to kill possible though. Think if we can get in and use the power to distract, that'll make attacking them simpler."

"What kinda weaknesses they got? I ain't bringin' any magic to the table, but you tell me where to aim and I'll be sure'n hit the mark."

"I got explosives, if we need them."

Not to mention a gun and a knife with a very fine edge.

"Well, if you do need magic, I've got that bit covered," James says, before adding, "- erm. Depending on what it is that needs doing."

Not so much with the big magical supernova explosion-type things here.

Ben glances at Carl and James -- James, that's the boy she likes -- in turn.

"Reckon we could use that dynamite as a diversion, Benton? Draw the attention to us while the magic-types," and his eyes slide to James and Tane, "slip on through to find Miss Tiwa?"

"Explosions," Aiden says, cheerily.

Long pause. Then: "We have to presume they're going to fully expect an attack with magic, and be prepared for it. After all, as far as they know, the only people up against them are your lot," nodding at Tane, "so if they're planning for the event that somebody tries to rescue her, then they'll expecting it to primarily be done with magic."

Pause. "Ideally, it'd be good if we could send somebody to scout out ahead and get the gist of what their defences are."

Beat. Chirpily: "Explosions ..."

Tane grins a bit at the explosions,

"Well yeah that'll work and far as we know, stuff that works on vamps is same as the stuff that works in the stories, sunlight, fire, cutting off their heads, staking them. Also Mage is going to need to be doing something to focus his magic so whenever he starts doing some odd little thing, have to distract him and stop him. We can do our best, think they'll probably be in the warehouse area so sneaking up is going to be hard. We'll just have to do what we can."
