Random Fun with Jamie

[piwakawaka]

Wellington has decided to rain a lot even though its Summer, Tiwa doesn't approve so she's found a place on the beach and has her shoes off.

She's got a packet of things from Victoria beside her that she probably should look through, but for now, she might be asleep.

"No."

He shakes his head, practically pouting.

"I can assure you I do not. My sister, who has excellent taste, told me so when I fell in a mud pit."

Beat.

"Of course, it's possible she also pushed me."

[piwakawaka]

"Yes, but she's also your sister. Its our job to keep brothers' egos down to a manageable size. I on the other hand have no such duties. Also I'd join in the mud too."

She gently pokes at his chest since its there while she makes her point and then just grins at him.

[land_lover]

Lazily, Jamie opens his eyes and turns an appreciative look her way.

"Well now. That's incentive enough."

He smiles.

[piwakawaka]

"I even know where to find bubbly mud, its good for your skin."

He has lovely appreciative looks and Tiwa smiles and kisses the skin under his collar again.

[land_lover]

Sighing contentedly, Jamie turns his head to give her better access and squeezes her side.

"Where is that?"

Bubbly mud that's good for your skin? There's nothing not to love about the idea.

[piwakawaka]

"Farther north, up near Rotorua and Taupo just have to beware of the tourists, they can get kind of silly."

She smiles at the squeeze and moves up to kiss his chin.

[land_lover]

"Mud fights?" he grins. It's almost hopeful.

Jamie turns enough to brush back her hair and kiss her lightly.

[piwakawaka]

"Course, why else would you play in the mud?"

She lengthens the kiss ever so slightly.

[land_lover]

She's as warm as the sun shining down on them, and Jamie smiles against her mouth, thinking that yes, life really is rather wonderful.

"You're in a good mood."

[piwakawaka]

"Hard not to be on a nice day. Don't think I've yet to see you not in a good mood."

He's got a wonderful smile and Tiwa kisses one of his dimples.

"Aye, that's true enough."

He laughs.

"No reason to be. I've a charmed life."

Teasing, but also truthful.

[piwakawaka]

"Best sort to have."

She moves her hand gently under the collar of his shirt,

"So I won't find any scars with complicated stories on you?"

[land_lover]

"Complicated? Not likely," he tells her. "But some are interesting anyway."

Beat.

"And you?"

[piwakawaka]

Its easy enough to shift her tattooed arm up so its closer to him so he can see the rectangular burn scar that's covered and part of the tattoo,

"Not sure about complicated, story is kind of, truth of what made it isn't."

[land_lover]

"Tell me?"

Easy smile fading into sharp interest, he traces the shape of scar and then the tattoo with his thumb.

The tracing feels nice and Tiwa nods, she doesn't like talking about it, but its over and done with,

"We're not really that powerful at home, in a world of vamps, mages and shifters, Fae tend to just hold on. Our Freehold though its kind of powerful, old and loved and so Wellington is sort of safe."

She takes a deep breath to keep hold of herself and kisses him quickly.

"You're tenacious."

He doesn't object to the kiss and holds her closer, but his eyes are still watching her with unwavering focus.

"Freehold?"

[piwakawaka]

"Marae too, a place to get to the Dreaming, we can be ourselves there without any guises. An lovely old taniwha, guess you'd call her a sort of sea monster watches over it. Others have always wanted it."

Tiwa hates saying this next part but his gaze is reassuring and sees through her all at once,

"Decided to make me a pawn, cage me."

[land_lover]

All at once his expression goes cold and hard, the look in his eyes almost dangerous.

"No one has the right to cage one such as you."

[piwakawaka]

He reminds her of Ben looking like that and she shivers,

"Wanted to know what cold iron would do. Mean I was saved and just some bad dreams now."

[land_lover]

Jamie is still staring at her, wondering, and very slowly he lets go of some of his mental shielding; not enough for a total assault on his senses, but sufficient to pick up a stray vision or two, should they come.

"We'll just have to see about giving you better ones," he decides.

[piwakawaka]

A large space, a warehouse with one fading point of light in Tiwa who's curled in a cage of iron, two men are laughing with two sorts of madness. One who sounds like he might fall over the edge, vampires aren't meant for Fae blood and the controlled edge of a scientist.

Tiwa nods into him as she does her best to steady herself,

"I keep working on that."

[land_lover]

"Ah, but you haven't yet worked on it with me," he says gently.

If he couldn't see so clearly how speaking of it affects her, Jamie would ask: Who were they? Are they dead? The cold anger that flares to life inside him and only just shows in his eyes makes him rather hope so.

"Do you like rum?"

[piwakawaka]

She's better sort of, its just a deep wound and her smile is weak and falters at that look in his eyes. That anger makes her want to tell him more, show him she's truly better,

"No, I haven't. They're gone with no coming back. Maybe."

[land_lover]

Jaime nods. It could mean any number of things, all of them reassuring. When her smile starts to fade, he touches her forehead and runs his finger down to her mouth.

"I want to show you something."

Carefully extricating himself, he jumps up and offers his hand.
