Flying in Wellington with James

[piwakawaka]

As they step through the door, Tiwa pulls her light anorak from her pocket and pulls it on as the city is spread out before them,

"Can just leave from here. I'll make sure we don't get in trouble."

"Not tired yet?" he calls out to her, laughing contentedly.

[piwakawaka]

He gets another tail waggle though she is starting to slow a bit because after all she is a rather small bird.

[notthatpotter]

- which just means it's easier for him to catch up to her.

"It's amazing up here," he says.

[piwakawaka]

She does a quick turn and lands on his shoulder with a chirp, the Wellington winds are being on their side today.

Since the day is clear and blustery enough to make flying fun but without too much of a chill and no rain.

And it truly is perfect.

This is the sort of flying he enjoys - wholeheartedly.

He slows down and remains hovered a bit over the air instead, turning his head towards bird!Tiwa.

"Thanks for making me do this."

[piwakawaka]

He gets a bird grin and a lovely song before she flies just behind him and with a feathery sound changes back so she can hug him,

"You're welcome. Flying makes stuff better."

"I suppose I'd forgotten that it does," he says, grinning.

"But - well. You made me remember."

[piwakawaka]

"Good, hate to think of you moping."

[notthatpotter]

"I don't mope," he points out. "I merely ruminate. Deeply."

He looks a little amused.

[piwakawaka]

She pokes him in the stomach since her arms are already around him,

"Course you don't and you also don't have a rather nice pout."

[notthatpotter]

"Do you, then?"

He doesn't think he's seen her impressive pout.

[piwakawaka]

"I'm not sure. I've never looked at my own pout."

[notthatpotter]

He laughs.

"Fair enough. I don't believe I've seen your pout either."

[piwakawaka]

"Maybe I haven't had a reason to pout when you're around, don't know."

[notthatpotter]

"Well, that's good to know," he says.

[piwakawaka]

"Yup, so want to go fly out over the water?"

[notthatpotter]

"All right. Sounds nice."

[piwakawaka]

"Then, that way."

She points over his shoulder towards the water and kisses his cheek.

[notthatpotter]

He follows in the direction she'd pointed to with rather astounding accuracy.

And grins at the kiss.

He's quite glad to be here for a spell, away from all of the responsibility he suddenly found himself shouldering.

My, how time can change so much.

[piwakawaka]

The wind is slightly more over the water but its a clear and sparkling day so a few boaters look up to see what's flying above them. Tiwa laughs and waves at a few people.

James does so too.

This is awesome.

"I don't suppose they're used to seeing people riding on broomsticks," he says.

[piwakawaka]

"Good for them to see things they're not used to."

[notthatpotter]

He nods, grinning.

"Very true."

[piwakawaka]

"They'll probably try and convince themselves that we're something ordinary but we're not."

[notthatpotter]

"We're far from being ordinary," he says.

Because she's a pooka, and he's a wizard.

And in most worlds, that's not particularly a common thing.



Then he shouts in a downwards direction, "We're not ordinary at all!"
